Just hours before the New Year, the singer and actor Ricky Martin posted the joyful news of welcoming his new daughter to the world. But many people don’t know about the egg donation journey of the King of Latin Pop to becoming the father of his twins, Mateo and Valentino. In 2010, the openly-gay singer Ricky Martin talked about choosing both an egg donor and a surrogate to carry his twins. “I sat in front of the computer and I started searching. It definitely was a very beautiful journey”, Martin told the US TV show Access Hollywood.
When his twins, Valintino and Matteo were born, Martin described his feeling as that of elation and ecstasy:
“I went to my room and the nurse gave them to me and I started holding them and I was like, ‘This is amazing. I mean, it feels incredible. There is a God. This is miraculous and they do look like me.'”
