It is so kind of you to consider the hugely generous act of egg donation
When trying to conceive, a lot of women and couples are heartbroken to find they can’t without the help of an egg donor. There are many reasons why egg donors are needed.
- Some women were born without ovaries or with ones that haven’t developed properly, while others have ovaries damaged from cancer treatment.
- About one in one hundred women under the age of 40 experience a premature menopause.
- Some women are able to produce eggs, but the eggs are low quality or at risk of carrying serious genetic conditions.
- Others simply, after years of trying, are just not able to fall pregnant with their own eggs, for no medical reason.
- Gay couples who wish to have their own baby through a surrogate rely on the kindness of a donor’s help to start a family.
In non-Covid times, we estimate that there are about 5,000 women and couples in the UK who need the help of an egg donor to start their families. But with the aftermath of the past year and a half, this number has drastically increased. We believe this is a combination of fewer women open to donating, paired with travel restrictions that hinder couples going abroad to bypass the UK shortage.
This is a huge source of stress and anxiety, with many feeling that time is simply running out. If you think you could help, register your interest below.

We will never be able to express our gratitude to our amazing donor. I become very emotional when I try to describe how I feel about the gift she gave us.

Donors are compensated £750 for their donation
This is an amount set by the UK Government to ensure donors are not out of pocket. It goes towards expenses like transport or childcare, and whatever is not used will go to you.
Learn about your fertility
As part of the medical screening process, donors receive a full fertility assessment for free. This assessment will give you a detailed picture of your fertility status and valuable insight into your health and how you should approach planning for a family of your own.
Get started from home
Thanks to our virtual pathways and network of clinics, you can get started from home and donate eggs as close to home as possible to avoid unnecessary travel.
