Mary Warnock

Altrui would like to send condolences to the family of Baroness Mary Warnock who died on 20th March. Her legacy in the ever changing world of fertility will remain, for her remit in 1984 was to examine and consider the social,  moral and ethical implications of assisted reproduction.

Without her significant contribution to the legal framework in which she addressed the general concerns and anxiety surrounding fertility research and the use of gametes and embryos, the moral compass might have been ignored.

We thank her for what she achieved and for the legacy which she has left from a life dedicated to asking the difficult questions.
