    Hi Lizzi,

Not sure how to respond to your message, I can not think of anything worse to happen I am gutted for you what a shame.
I feel for both you and the recipient. Do you think this has put you off? I am not sure how I would feel if this was the case with me. I know I want to do it again but in a few years yet me and my partner are getting married and planning a baby for 2014 ourselves.

About my egg collection yes it was fantastic just hope it has all be worth it and there is a positive result.

    xx

Ah Lizzi that’s tough. Collection is a lot to go through for not much result though - it’s not worth the risk of infection, anaesthetic, etc if they know it’s not likely to get good eggs. Shame it wasn’t picked up sooner.

I’m honestly alright about it now. Definitely upset and disappointed at the time, but I do understand that the odds were so low that they didn’t warrant the risks to me. The biggest thing though was the fact that the recipient couple can go on to have a more successful cycle in the future, rather than put their hopes in the very slim chance of one of the follicles having an egg that may or may not fertilise or implant. So many things in these procedures are down to chance and odds.

I probably will donate again in the future, as it’s still something I feel quite strongly about doing. For all my wishing that it could have been successful, it’s just a sad fact that it doesn’t always work out.

I had my collection on Wednesday, WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!!! They collected 38 eggs and on my day 10 I had 60 but not all developed/mature my biggest was 15mm.

I did over stimulate I think but good luck for Monday and remember Claire your doing all you can do for the family.

Chanice, that is pretty amazing. How are you feeling now? Did you have any side effects from the collection or are you fine?

    Hi Kriss,

    The whole experience was amazing!!

I did have a really bad stomach for a few days and my period came early and it was the worst I’ve ever had changing my nighttime pad every hour and even leaking when I did this but beside the fact I looked pregnant and the pains it was amazing and I can’t wait to do it again next year!

They collected 38 eggs and only 19 were mature enough for fertilisation, 11 made it though and they were planted on day 5 for her, so now just waiting for a result so please remember us in your prayers!

    Hi LizziD,

I know this is a little late (I have been on holiday), but just wanted to say how sorry I am to hear the egg collection didnt go as well as you had hoped. It must be quite a saddening feeling. I am sure that the recipients are still hugely grateful for the amazing thing that you have done for them, as you gave them a chance that they would not otherwise have had. Hope you are feeling OK about it now.

My medication arrived this morning, and having felt pretty easy going about it all, the box of syringes and vials and medicines did somewhat bring what I am about to do home - it was quite a reality check! It certainly didnt make me question my deicision but did remind me what a huge think it is I am about to do. However minutes after opening the box, my little ones woke from their morning nap and walking in to their room and seeing their smiling little faces was all I needed - giving someone else the opportunity to enjoy the amazing experience of bringing up beautiful children, makes it all worth while. If it wasnt for our sperm donor, I would not be sat here saying this either.

    xx

Chanice, everything crossed for your recipients and hope that your body is back in balance and you’re OK now.

Ash, hope the cycle is going well!

Hi Everyone! hope you are all well, i have not been on in a while but i just thought i’d share the news i received the other day. My recipient is pregnant with Twins! I was so disappointed that i’d only produced 6 eggs so to get that news made my day!

And i’ve decided not to go back on the pill since finishing the egg donation process, just going to let nature take its course

Good luck to chanice and ash

    Hi Laura,

That is such fabulous news! I am so excited for you - it must feel so good!

I am starting meds this week, so all being well will be going for egg collection in a couple of weeks. The fridge full of drugs does make it feel quite real, but also exciting!
