Had my collection yesterday, everything went well. Feeling fine today, just bloated and uncomfortable around my tum but otherwise fine. 6 eggs collected, I had a call this morning to say they all fertilised which is great! The lister was brilliant. It’s been such an easy, smooth process that I will most likely do it again at some point.
May 31, 2013 at 12:43 pm #2499Thats Brilliant so pleased that all your little eggs are doing well
I’m glad it went OKay, how did you feel right after the treatment? Mine is booked for Monday at CRM in London.
May 31, 2013 at 2:29 pm #2500Brilliant news! Well done Laura!
I had another scan today - Got one more to go on Monday, with probable Egg Collection pencilled in for Wednesday. It looks like I’ve got 4 good sized follicles and 4-5 smaller ones which might develop over the weekend.
I’m going through Guys in London - bit of a trek for me, 3-4 hours round trip per appointment, but other than the inconvenience of having to find childcare at short notice, it’s not been too bad. If I did it again, I’d look into getting a childminder sorted out, rather than relying on friends and family to help out. I kinda feel like I’ve used up all my favours from all my friends for a while. lol
May 31, 2013 at 3:07 pm #2501lol.. this is how I feel LizziD my round trip is 4 hours, which is a nightmare at time as the drive is horrendous and I nearly crashed once. Luckily I only have my daughter and sometimes taken her to appts with me.
May 31, 2013 at 3:22 pm #2502I had to take the kids last Tuesday as my childcare cancelled on me late Monday night. It was unavoidable, but made for a stressful trip down to London with the kids & pushchair. The train isn’t too bad for me by myself, but I HATE the tube with a pushchair. Where abouts are you based? I’m in Peterborough, so at least it’s a direct route into London.
May 31, 2013 at 4:03 pm #2503I am from Lancashire and go to my appts in Chester at a clinic was meant to be having egg collection at Liverpools Womans hospital but going CMD in London on Monday now and staying over on Sunday night so me and my partner are going to make the most of it and go for a nice meal Sunday night
May 31, 2013 at 4:51 pm #2504Sounds lovely!! My counselling session, my husband came with the kids as well, so once we were finished, we had a picnic lunch in Hyde Park, went to see Buckingham Palace then took a walk up to Hamleys (it was just before Christmas, so all the lights were up!) A magical family day out!
June 1, 2013 at 8:05 am #2505awww that does sound beautiful. Well both mine and my partners packed our bags ready got to take my ast injections today
my belly can start getting back to normal then. I am sure I will want to do this again once I have had another baby next year still got 9 years of donating left in me yet
June 1, 2013 at 11:56 am #2506My train journey is about 2.5 hours each way from Bournemouth to London, staying at my mums now though so that my journey for egg collection was only about an hour.
Still very bloated after the collection, looking pregnant but other than that I feel fine - it’s hard to believe they’ve even been in and taken the eggs lol
June 1, 2013 at 12:15 pm #2507Ohh exciting. Are you sore after egg collection or not? I have 1 more injection to take at 8.30pm this eveing then I am on the road to egg collection
June 2, 2013 at 6:29 pm #2511Good luck tomorrow Claire and good luck for Wednesday LizziD!
Laura, I found that drinking lots of oral rehydration drinks helped a lot, it’s basically an imbalance of electrolytes in your body because the fluid in the follicles has diluted them, so drink sports drinks, dioralyte or a pint of water with a teaspoon of salt and a tablespoon of sugar, and that will help things to balance out more quickly. And don’t feel uncomfortable about phoning the clinic if your symptoms get worse or don’t go away - they’re there to look after you afterwards too.
June 3, 2013 at 12:28 pm #2512Good Luck with your collection claire!
After mine I could hardly believe they’d done anything, couldnt feel a thing, was just tired. Hopefully your experience will be just as good.
June 3, 2013 at 3:28 pm #2514Hope things all went well with your Collection.
My follicles hadn’t changed all that much since Friday, so I’m not back down AGAIN on Wednesday and collection pushed back for a possible Friday.
June 7, 2013 at 10:33 am #2522Hi Guys,
Egg collection went well, I was in agony the night before my belly was hyper sensitive. We got lost on our way to the clinic but manage to get their in time. Egg collection went find and pain free, very strange and emotional feeling though. I was told they had 12 eggs and 10 fertilized which is fantastic news. I am experienced a dull pain since and I look a few months pregnant even had people ask me if i’m expecting but I am slim so its more noticeable. Yesterday I received a lovely bunch of flowers from my recipient which was very kind of them. I believe tomorrow is the day that they have them put back in and then its count down to the test then. Fingers crossed
My daughter was asking how they took my eggs out, so I told her and she was horrified lol baring in mind she is only 6 years old.How are you LizziD?
June 7, 2013 at 10:51 am #2523It’s not good news here I’m afraid - My scan on Wednesdat showed that I still only had 2 follicles bigger than 18mm and 2 more above 14mm and the clinic took the decision to terminate the cycle for me. I’m feeling really quite gutted, especially for the recipient couple. I guess in my case, the dose of medication was wrong as I never responded especially well to it right from the start. I’m going to take a couple of months out and then make a decision at the end of the summer as to whether I want to have another go (on a stronger dose!)
That’s great news about your eggs though - you and your couple must be very excited! Fingers crossed for a successful implantation/pregnancy now - it’s what it’s all about after all!
xx
