We’ve had a lot of new ladies come to Altrui in the last couple of weeks… are there any questions you’d like to ask here about egg donation?

AnonymousHey,
Hope your well?
If implantation wasnt successful and thee are eggs frozen would the donor be notified if the recipient tries again using the frozen eggs?
xJanuary 31, 2014 at 5:02 pm #3150Hi Cham - good question!!
We would tell you if the recipient was successful or not, and if you wanted to be kept in the loop, then we would make sure that you were. If we don’t know we will always try and find out for you, but on the whole people going through this process feel quite vulnerable and often don’t tell us (or anyone else for that matter) what they are doing - especially if it hasn’t worked first time round and are using frozen embryos. But as I said, I’d find out for you if it was important as I feel you have a right to know as much as you need to.
Does that make sense??

AnonymousHi there
I am planning to apply to become an egg donor soon, but there are a couple of things I’m worried about:
Firstly, I don’t have any children of my own, because I have never wanted to raise children myself. I’m now 33 and I’m as certain as I possibly can be that I won’t change my mind, but would I be turned away just in case my fertility is affected?
Secondly, my brother has Asperger’s syndrome. I have no other family members on the autistic spectrum, and I know there is still debate about whether it is hereditary anyway. Am I likely to be turned away because of this?
Thank you!
February 12, 2014 at 12:39 pm #3208Hi Edwyna,
Firstly how kind and exciting that you are thinking about being a donor, and it’s great to hear from you. I will find out if the Aspergers might be a problem and will get back once I know, but I do know that not having children is NOT a problem and there are several academic papers to say that your fertility will not be compromised by being a donor. There are many egg donors who don’t yet have a family and they have subsequently gone on to have children, but if the clinicians think that your fertility could be compromised, you wouldn’t be allowed to continue. I’ll look into the Aspergers and either you can send me your email address, ([email protected]) or if I don’t get it I’ll let you know here once I’ve got a response. AnonymousHello everyone!
Is there anyone who donated eggs? Just a quick question ..do you think about eggs you donated? Like they could be your children? Thanks
Take care

AnonymousHi there,
I donated last September but unfortunately the recipients were not successful, your not donating a child, just a cell. It is nothing more than a cell that once implanted within the other lady might grow in to her child……that her and her husband have madeIts a wonderful thing to do, i just hope that my recipient decide to give it another go.
Are you thinking abut donating or have you already donated? x
