My family and friends were fine. In fact I was surprised by how little interest they showed (except for my mum, who wanted to know all about it). My brother didn’t get why I was telling him at all and my dad looked horrified once I’d told him there were injections involved and changed the subject. But I just wanted to make sure they knew so it didn’t come as a shock hearing it from someone else :-)

Most people haven’t heard much about egg donation so you might end up explaining lots about what you’re doing. I’ve never met anyone who’s really disapproved - not face to face. The most people will say is ‘I couldn’t do that’. Online, on discussion boards, yes you will get some people saying they think you are giving away your children or whatever or making comments about the expenses (because they think like the US egg donors get thousands). But most people realise you’re doing something out of compassion and caring and will be touched that you’re trying to help someone.
