Does donating eggs effect fertility?
Donating eggs is highly unlikely to affect your fertility, or interfere with any future plans you may have to start or extend your own family.
The facts: Each ovary contains about 500,000 eggs. During the donor treatment cycle you will only donate about the same number of eggs (about 10-15 eggs, depending on your response to the drugs) as you would naturally lose during that month. This will leave you with hundreds of thousands of eggs for the future.
Should a doctor consider you to be at risk in any way, or your fertility to be compromised, following the initial assessment when you start the screening process, you would not be allowed to become an egg donor. It is important that both you and your family feel completely comfortable with the decision you are making, so when the doctors at the Licensed Centre talk you through the medical implications of egg donation, if you have any concerns you must feel free to change your mind without fear of repercussion.Register interestDownload our info pack
