Professional help, based on experience
A small expert team
Altrui was set up in 2010 to meet the overwhelming need for egg donors in the UK. Alison Bagshawe, the company’s founder, believed that couples in the UK needed more practical help when seeking a donor, and that the women who donate eggs deserved to be properly looked after, well-informed and appreciated for what they were doing.
Altrui is made up of a small, dedicated team of people, all working to offer a truly personal egg donation service based on four core values: integrity, honesty, determination and kindness.
Whether you might be starting out on your journey as an egg recipient, or looking to change someone else’s life by becoming an altruistic egg donor, each member of our team is on hand to offer you the care, respect and support you deserve.
Following her training at Great Ormond Street Hospital, Alison, a qualified nurse and specialist fertility counsellor, has spent more than 20 years working in the fertility industry. This time has allowed Alison to support numerous couples through the process of assisted conception, assessing and screening egg donors, as well as gain extensive experience and a great understanding of both the legal aspects of fertility treatments and the ethical and religious issues associated with assisted conception.
In addition, Alison has made important contributions to the following publications:
Intractable Infertility; British Medical Journal, The ABC of Subfertility
Counselling; British Medical Journal, The ABC of Subfertility
Textbook of Human Reproductive Genetics; Cambridge University Press
Alison’s understanding, knowledge and experience within this field guarantee that the very highest standards of care and professionalism are followed at every stage.
Sarah is ‘that’ person in the office who keeps everything ticking over and makes things happen. With a wealth of experience, an unmatched efficiency and a comprehensive set of skills to match, Sarah can organise, manage, keep track of and generally pitch in to do almost anything that needs to be done, including dealing with all sorts of client enquiries and questions.
Most importantly perhaps is Sarah’s sense of humour, which never fails to lighten the mood at Altrui when we are in danger of getting a little too serious.
Kate works to the highest standard with complete discretion, and is absolutely fantastic at looking after recipients and donors at each and every stage. She is the most organised, sensible and efficient person we know and is a whizz at juggling priorities and keeping a calm head under pressure. As part of the small Altrui team, she totally understands the sensitive nature of egg donation and is always there to listen and support. The easiest way to describe Kate is that she is steady, incredibly kind and unflappable but with a fantastic sense of humour and nothing seems to faze her. If you are a recipient, her tact and understanding along the way, will be invaluable as it is for all of us who work with her.
Sam is the latest recruit to Altrui and comes with a real thirst for getting things right and getting ‘stuck in’. Already she has found her way around our elaborate database with ease and keeps us all on our toes. She will be one of the first people you speak to whether you are a donor or recipient and will organise all the rest of us to find time to talk to you.
Anthony is the stabilising influence and the voice of reason at Altrui. From dealing with the technology, finances and business systems, to being responsible for the safe and professional running of Altrui, Anthony’s ability and perception to get to the heart of issues and difficulties and find solutions is second to none.
If you are an egg donor he will manage and reimburse your expenses promptly; our clients can rely on his integrity and professionalism to keep all information and records up to date and safe. Anthony is always prepared to go that extra mile to help.
Every member of the team is here to look after you from start to finish.
